It's a nice little three-for-the-price-of-one special: local singer-songwriters Kate Gaffney and Birdie Busch, joined by New England folkie (and witty wordsmith) Anais Mitchell for a late-night performance.

Bucks County native Kate Gaffney did the whole wandering troubadour thing, moving to California after college and then playing her way back East in late 2003, when she put down roots in the local music scene.

When she takes to the stage at World Café Live this weekend, Kate Gaffney will breathe a huge sigh of relief and exuberance.

It will be the end of one era and the beginning of another.

The Chalfont-based songwriter will be performing at Philadelphia’s newest nightspot Sept. 30 to celebrate the release of her first full-length record, “The New Then.” The album’s title is literally a reference to an attitude she sees in popular culture, a resurgence of 1960s idealism mixed with 21st century smarts, but she finds a second meaning in it.
